A Friend: Proverbs 26-27

"A REAL FRIEND WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOUR FACE IS DIRTY"- sicilian proverb The nuggets of truth from Proverbs are so timeless! Chapter twenty-seven brought to mind all the people I call friends ( love you, Kendra!) and how multidimensional a true friendship must be. Solomon reminded me that a true friend will not hold back the truth, especially if it could save my life. And I must recognize the value in that friend who is unafraid to be truthful to me. On the other hand I am encouraged to know that, to a hungry soul, something bitter will taste sweet ( Prov. 27:7) This tells me that when there is a hunger for right, that a sometimes tough pill, can be swallowed. My friend will recognize the love in my truth, so there is no fear of losing my friendship. So As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend . ( Prov. 27:17) Being a friend is more then just cordiality and politeness, it is about realities and righteousness. I am

Ephesians 5:28

A man is sitting at the table with a sneer and he's holding his Bible up and slightly open. As his wife passes, he says, "Okay Meg, I admit it...I read the Bible by letting it flip open at random...but did you HAVE to bend the pages, so it would always stop at Ephesians 5:28?" New Tribes Mission Prayer Requests

Good day everyone! I was touched by a couple of prayer requests that went out by New Tribes Mission over the past couple of weeks and I'd love for my blogger family to lift them up in prayer with us! Teachers!     Missionaries in Mozambique would like us to pray for teachers to teach their children while they are ministering the gospel to the tribes. We forget about that don't we?! I love how NTM brings the lives of the missionaries front & center! We seem to follow thought patterns that make us believe that missionaries are single, young people or married couples with no children. That's far from the truth! There are missionaries with 1 child to many children! Because there are no teachers for their children, mothers and fathers have to homeschool alongside their missionary responsibilities. We need to pray that God will provide for not just missionaries in Mozambique, but for those all over the world. It's a huge need that needs to be met, but we serve Jehov

Mission: New Tribes

Hi Family! We hope that your holiday was truly blessed! Not blessed with things  but blessings of fellowship, giving, and most importantly, love. I think we take for granted the opportunity to be surrounded by people who  actually  want to be around us and who want to invest in our lives in some way! Although our year is full of holidays of pagan origin, they are awesome times for the family of God to gather together and just love on each other! Also, I surely don't take holidays that my husband gets off of work lightly! Love....

Expressions: Hebrews 1-4

According to webster the word expression from the latin word expresses means "to press out". When we ex-press ourselves, whether we say a word, make a facial ex-pression, or take an action, we are pressing out ourselves in a visible or audible manner. This allows someone else to see who we are, from the inside. See what we stand for, what we believe in- WHO WE ARE. Take a look at this passage from Hebrews 1 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Who is His Son and the express image of His person? Jesus Christ. 1John 5 6This is he that came by water and blood, even

Oh the Blood!: John 19-21

John 19:33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out." This verse jumped out at me as I read the all-familiar crucifixion story. The blood that washes us white as snow- the blood, that is applied to us as we are dipped in the name charged waters of baptism. O! The blood, that brings atonement- bridging the gap that our sins created. This reminds me of a shadow of the cross that can be seen in the cleansing ritual in leviticus 14. Two birds are brought to the altar, one is killed over running water, in an earthen vessel, and the live one is dipped in the blood of the sacrificed one. The live bird is set free, now covered in the blood of the offered bird. Astounding to see the same principle of blood, and running water, and the earthen vessel ( the body of Christ), and redemption because of the dipping in blood . Worthy is the lamb

Tough Christmas

#86 Tough Christmas This cartoon shows a family sitting in their car while it's being washed by Santa and his elves with the reindeer watching. Signs on the brick wall behind them say, "Car Wash: Donate to help make toys" and "Car Wash: 2 Corinthians 6:4" The dad makes the remark, "This economy is worse than I thought!" 2 Corinthians 6:4 I n everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind. Thanks Mankindtoons ! You outdo yourselves every week! Happy Holidays!

2 chronicles 1-5 - The Gory of the Lord filled the temple

2 chronicles 5:7-14 "The priests then brought the ark of the LORD's covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 8 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and covered the ark and its carrying poles. 9 These poles were so long that their ends, extending from the ark, could be seen from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. 11 The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions. 12 All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. Mission: Rahab Ministries

W elp! It's another Monday and unfortunately I have another mission to share with you all! Oh the day when there won't be a need for missionaries, charity, and outreach projects! We can't even wrap our minds around the fact that'll be of never needing - I mean really never needing   anything . Amazing! Revelation 21 and 22 talk of a new order where God will live with us and supply all of our needs. All we're going to want to do and need  to do is adore Him! Hallelujah! If that doesn't motivate you to glorify Jehovah with your lives, I don't know what will! With this eagerness, we need to dedicate more time to testifying of the goodness of the Lord and sharing His vision with our dying world.  The other day, Chantel and I were talking about witnessing and how we don't give nearly as much time to doing it as we should be. She explained how she felt the Holy Spirit urging her to make going out every day in order to witness a priority. It didn't matt

Guide your heart in the way: Proverbs 23-24

Follow your heart. How often do we hear this being thrown about. It seems that to follow your heart would be to follow the truest part of you, and hey , we live in an age where being true to yourself is a sign of strength and maturity. "Be who you are", "don't change for anyone", "follow your heart", "be true to yourslf", "be real", "tell it like it is", and so on. But how much of this is truth. If we look in the word, Jesus himself says He is the truth. Not only is he the truth, but he is the way, and the life. So back to the heart. The bible says to guide it, and not just anywhere, but in the way. We can learn something here from David when he said "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee." Does this mean our heart is affected by what is processed sensually? I assume David must have read or listened to the word of which he spoke. How did he pull off pressing the word so deep in his he

So much to live for ...

I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. I immediately ran over and said "Stop! Don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" "Like what?" "Well ... are you religious or atheist?" "Religious." "Me too! Are you Christian or Jewish?" "Christian." "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?" "Protestant." "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?" "Baptist." "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?" "Baptist Church of God." "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?" "Reformed Baptist Church of God." "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, refo

Mission: Christmas Blessing

Peace & love everybody! I've been so excited it's been hard to contain myself regarding today's mission! I hope that after reading this post, you'll be as encouraged as I am now! Known by most today as "the last Stalinist country" and according to VOM, "one of the most repressive and isolated regimes in the world", North Korea needs our prayers, monetary support, and volunteers. It's even being reported that a holocaust is occurring there as I'm writing this! Christians are being tortured, killed, and having "experiments" run on them all because they testify that Jesus is their Lord. Read a short synopsis of what Persecution.com has to say about North Korea and check out their related links. Thanks to our family over at The Voice of the Martyrs, we will be able to encourage and support our North Korean brothers and sisters! With our donations of $50 we will be able to sponsor a package that will have hard-to-get essentials,

Are you there _____? It's me- God: Joel 1-3

Yep- 12 more days left til the 25th! How about the time left between today and our eternity? The Book of Joel is such a passionate read; God implores his people to look around at their reality. He wants them to not be satisfied with their present state, but to " Press toward the mark" ( Phil. 3:14) It's like God is saying Hellooo! Are you seriously OK with, this!? Here I am , ready to move, on YOUR behalf. What's the hold up? Sometimes the hold-up is the mere lack of recognition that something is not quite right. It is easy for us to get caught up in our christian bubble, and be so afraid to rock the boat that we have become passive about the transgressors around us. It is easier to turn the blind eye to sin, and figure, hey it's not my problem. But when God made us the SALT and the LIGHT it became our job to unsettle when it came to anything against the sovereign God. Israel settled for less than what God desired for them, and needed a wake up call. "Blow th

There is blessing in generosity: Proverbs 22

There is so much in the proverbs, and each chapter is packed to the brim with wise words. Chapter 22 is no exception. These are the verses that jumped out to me as I read through. 1.Rich and Poor have this in common: The Lord is the maker of them all - Prov. 22:2 (NIV) Now how about that for a ground leveler, huh? Your material things will not exalt or debase you in the eyes of God. So don't sweat it if you don't get that designer something this Holiday. 2. A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.- Prov. 22:9 (NIV) This is good to remember when you think twice about giving when you had the initial heart and mind to do so. Remember if it is according to the word of God, it is the voice of the Lord speaking to you to give. Do not hesitate. Hesitation gives room for the flesh to analyze, and reason away what God has spoken to you to do, and gives room for the enemy's blinding deceit as well.Go ahead, give a little, or give a lot. 3. Do n

Faith Hill - A Baby Changes Everything

I was really moved by this! I hope you enjoy this as I much as I did when I first saw it! Faith Hill - A Baby Changes Everything

Mission: Rescue!

Hi all! Today we're featuring an organization that everyone can help and make an immediate difference. While helping where we feel led to help in foreign missions is mandatory as children of The Most High, we can't forget to reach out to those in need and living in poverty right here in our country. Therefore, this post is more of a reminder. The mission feature for today is your area Rescue Mission! Most of us are familiar with them, shopping at their thrift stores and donating when we can. But with the Christmas season fast approaching, it'd be awesome if we gave them a little more consideration!

It speaks for itself : 1 Timothy 3-4

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful , unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering , love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium , at Lystra —what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing f

Don't I know you? : Hosea 8-14

This morning I looked at the reading list and instantly resolved to plow through Hosea chapters 8 to 14. Before I got to the word however, I spent some time in prayer, as I usually try to do each day and I uttered a familiar, yet long unspoken line: " Lord speak to me in your word today. Let me see not what I am trying to see, but what YOU want me to see." By the time I started, I felt like my eyes had been washed. Like the words of a familiar song, Word of God speak would you pour down like rain washing my eyes to see your majesty... The first thing I noticed was a prevailing trend for the past weeks in almost all of the scriptures we have read: a turning away from the things once known and loved. After reading a few verses in, I jotted this down: It is not a new thing to experience God, and believe, yet walk away to idolatry ( in whatever form it may take for you); what it is, however, is a sad thing. I am sorrowful, for the ones who knew the Lord, and at the end they will

Bless the Lord O My soul! : Psalm 102-104

Psalm 103: 8-14 The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. 9 He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. I was overwhelmingly thankful when I read Psalms 103 and was reminded that the Lord knows our frame. He knows that we are but dust. His mercy is great toward us because of this. We tend, however, to forget that we are dust, and beat ourselves up when we mess up and do not measure up to our own expectations.Yet the almighty, all knowing, ever present God, does not hold these things over our heads the way we do .

Super Apostles - ManKind Toons

#65 Super Apostles This comic has 4 men dressed in superhero garb standing before Jesus. Jesus tells them, "That's not quite what I had in Mind when I appointed you my apostles, and asked you to go out and save lives..." Matthew 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. We'll be here next Wednesday to offer you more laughs for a glad heart! Thankful to ManKind Toons !

Bearing the Ark: 1 Chronicles 15-19

Happy first day of December everyone! We are coming to the close of another year, though not the close of our daily bible reading. I hope you are being motivated to study the Word of God each day. If you look at the link to the right for the bible reading plan you will see that we are following a revised version of that plan. To keep up with us, just refer to the calendar at the bottom of the page. Feel free to share your thought bubbles or "enlightenments". To quote an awesome man of God, may His Word be more to us than our necessary food. Now on to today's reading passage: ______________________________________________________________ 1 Chronicles 15-19 David wanted to get the Ark of the covenant to his city. He appointed some strong men to carry it. Trouble followed. The Ark contained the two stone tablets on which the commandments were written by God's own hand. It also housed the undying almond bud which grew miraculousy from the twig of Aaron, solidifying God
