The Renting at the Word

Let's look at 2 Chronicles 34:19. What do you notice? At the Word, How do we respond- hardness and stubbornness and rejection, or meekness and repentance? Do we respond immediately, or do we take our time, responding when it's convenient? Josiah heard the Word and "rent  his clothes." (KJV) To rent means to tear, separate, divide. It is an act of repentance in the spiritual sense.  Sometimes separation is simple. Sometimes it demands us having to literally tear ourselves away from some things, people, and places.  Regardless, we must do what we must in order to walk in the light of the Word rather than the dark temporary pleasures the evil of the world has to offer. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the  Lord  your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.    Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him;- Joel 2:13-14a For th...

Don't get mad- get glad!: 2 Chronicles 29-32

The reading passage for Tuesday had me at a standstill. I always seem to take longer in the history books. So I read it in several sittings throughout the day, rather than one full sitting. Each time I went back, I ended up re-reading as well, and these two verses stuck out to me each time: 2 Chronicles 29: 27-29 27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt offering on the altar. As the offering began, singing to the LORD began also , accompanied by trumpets and the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the singers sang and the trumpeters played. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed. 29 When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with him knelt down and worshiped. 30 King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed their heads and worshiped. So i said to myself- wa...

Build a defense in Judah: 2Chronicles 11-15

" This time I will Praise the Lord, so she named him Judah"- Gen.29:35 In our reading passage for today 2 things jumped out for me. First, 2 chronicles 11:5 tells us that Solomon's son, Rehoboam built defense cities in Judah. Their is safety and defense in praise, and it is the best thing to build a defense in. Psalms tells us that God inhabits the praise of his people ( Ps. 22:3) Second, one of the defense cities is Bethlehem. Bethlehem? A defense city, Who woulda thought, but then how fitting for God to make an appearance, in a defense built in praise. I thought it was cool. Share your thoughts!

2 chronicles 1-5 - The Gory of the Lord filled the temple

2 chronicles 5:7-14 "The priests then brought the ark of the LORD's covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 8 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and covered the ark and its carrying poles. 9 These poles were so long that their ends, extending from the ark, could be seen from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. 11 The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions. 12 All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. Th...
