The name: Acts 9-10

JESUS !!!! If you are alive and breathing the mention of this name must do something to you. Whether you are elated or confounded at the mention of the name, it resonates with Power. Why? What is so special about this name? The name Jesus means savior, and while anyone can be a savior of sorts, when the title of savior is attributed to the almighty Jehovah, God of all, it takes on higher dimension and authority. For example, there are many presidents, but when the title president is attributed to the President of the United States, it takes on new dimension and authority. Today's bible reading in Acts 9, the zealot Paul is on his way to continue his work of persecuting the believers. He does not understand the message, and reacts, as many unfortunately do today, in opposition and anger to Jesus. On the road he is met by that very Jesus, the Christ ( or anointed one), and " Trembling and astonished he asks, 'Lord, what do you want me to do'?" Jesus in

Exodus 34:30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. Humpday humor Everyone, a day late. Hey laughter is allowed on Thursdays too! God Bless, and may your day be filled with the joy, of the Lord, which is our strength.

God? Jealous? Nahum & Deuteronomy 4-6

As I was playing catch up there were several passages in Nahum and In Deuteronomy, that pointed to God and his jealousy. I had no problem with it, but wanted to look up the word jealous. Here it is as it appears in Merriam webster: Main Entry: jeal·ous Pronunciation: \ˈje-lÉ™s\ Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English jelous , from Anglo-French gelus , from Vulgar Latin * zelosus , from Late Latin zelus zeal — more at zeal Date: 13th century 1 a : intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness b : disposed to suspect rivalry or unfaithfulness 2 : hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage 3 : vigilant in guarding a possession I looked at the words from which "jealous" derived, "zelus" and looked that up as well: Main Entry: zeal Pronunciation: \ˈzÄ“l\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English zele, from Late Latin zelus, from Greek zÄ“los Date: 14th century : eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of something : fervor synonyms see passion So God is p

We have this treasure in earthen vessels

The Harvest is plentiful... What is more valuable and treasurable than the salvation from sin that grace offers us? NOTHING! So some things to remember, especially in the era God has placed us in. 1. There is a dying world out there and the only solution to it all the problems it faces, is JESUS. 2. We have been commanded & co- mmissioned. In other words we believers on the LORD Jesus Christ, are on this mission together . Not only are we on this mission with one another but God is with us. Acts 1:8- You will receive power, after the Holy Spirit is come upon you, and you will be witnessess for me..." So we are empowered-  once we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, to PREACH and TEACH the gospel to every one we meet. Without reservation, prejudice, hesitation, or compromise, let us put away fear, and labor together in the mission field for the lost souls that pass us by EVERY DAY. So what are you waiting for ? GO!

Catching up

I must admit, ( sigh) I fell behind. Today's Passage NAHUM, has to wait ( double sigh) Thanks be to God however for the scripture that says the race is not given to the swift nor the strong, but to those who endure... TO THE END Sooo , I hope that the rest of us are faithfully spending some time with the Lord in prayer, AND listening to him through his WORD ( or else that would be one ONE-SIDED convo ). I am coming around the bend, and will be back up to date over this weekend. And remember DON'T JUST READ-- STUDY, ask questions, and most of all mix it with faith! "Study to show your self approved, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." What has he said to you lately? It's always in the Word. AMEN?

How many friends could you bring to church on 1 Sunday?

Mission: Bright Hope

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,          because the LORD has anointed me         to preach good news to the poor.         He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,         to proclaim freedom for the captives         and release from darkness for the prisoners,  [ a ]   to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor         and the day of vengeance of our God,         to comfort all who mourn,   and provide for those who grieve in Zion—         to bestow on them a crown of beauty         instead of ashes,         the oil of gladness         instead of mourning,         and a garment of praise         instead of a spirit of despair.         They will be called oaks of righteousness,         a planting of the LORD         for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:1-3 The passage above was spoken by the prophet Isaiah and when I found it, I felt so encouraged - empowered in a way. I figured it'd be perfect to start Mission Monday and at the same time, lift our spiri

Poem for a little Haitian Girl

The news clip brought me to tears, one for the loss of life, two for the guilt of seeming to indulge in the sensationalizing of another's devastation, for I clicked on it didn't I? Was it out of true concern, or just curiosity? I pray it was so I could lift up this child's family and others like them in prayer. I was moved to write this poem just now, only intending to copy and past the vidoe clip. But here goes. My Caribbean brothers and sisters are in need, and I pray for the strength of the true believers that are able to shine the light of Christ in the darkness. Jesus is soon to come. Eleven years too late or too soon-- yet the moon rises casting a glow that it borrows from the sun ; when one's exchanging places; there is a touch sometimes, there is a passing wind carrying a scent to places never been the sun sets the moon rises hopes are risen and tears are cried; eleven years of rising suns and setting moons yet there' always light- it never dies -Chantel (C

Haiti: What are you gonna do about them?

Good day family! I'm sure many of you have heard of the massive earthquake that rocked Haiti and if you're anything like me, you're greatly disturbed. It seems most of the time that when things like this happens, my prayers seem powerless! "Lord, what can little old me do?" Have any of you felt like this?! Then, ever so gently, the Holy Spirit whispers, your prayers mean everything to Me. Wooow! I'm calling all prayer warriors, those who are of this royal priesthood, to offer sacrifices of praise and make requests for Haiti known to our Father, Jehovah God. Our prayers are as sweet as honey in his nostrils and he relents when we are humble and quick to obey. He's inclined to bless and do the impossible when the people of God band together on one accord, reminding Him that we aren't selfish and oblivious! We do love each other! Haiti needs our support and our fervent prayers! This earthquake happened during school hours, so many children (they could&

Mission: Adventures In Missions

Good day (or night) to you!  Our God is amazing, yes, He is! I'm enjoying sharing these missions groups and projects with you guys and I hope that it's stirring you to act. My family and I have been greatly affected since God has opened this door for me to witness in this way! It's amazing how much is going on in the world that we really do have the power of prayer to change, but most of them we're oblivious to! You shall not be unaware any longer! We have some setbacks, issues in our own lives personally, that we are seeking our most gracious Lord for, but whenever I see a face that represents true struggle or a population of people who've never heard of Jesus or understood Jehovah God, my life seems to come together a little bit. Some questions that I had aren't important anymore and I get to the core of my issues faster. I hope that you're seeking the Father regarding what it is you really need from him and that He'll give you His heart and His eye

Hallelu Yah!!!!: Psalm 117-118

Hallelujah! Praise Jehovah! Extol the almighty one, the self-existent. My spirit quickened as the praises rang from verse to verse in the reading in Psalms. The footnote on 117:2 spoke so loudly to me as it denoted "Praise the Lord" for the Hebrew of " Hallelu Yah" A word we say so much, and thanks to the information age, we do now know what it means. Yet do we grasp the depths of the one whom we offer these praises to? In my morning prayer today I was so overwhelmed with praise and thanksgiving when i thought of my very existence depending on our Jehovah God, whether we attribute it to him or not. I was blown away by how he just is, The Great I AM - He just exists. It is easy to get caught up, and to the non-believer, discouraged, by that BIGNESS of who God is, but it is extraordinarily intriguing to me, the greatness of God. So like the words of classic chorus I love to sing: when I think of the goodness of Jesus and all he has done for me my soul cries out Halle

Build a defense in Judah: 2Chronicles 11-15

" This time I will Praise the Lord, so she named him Judah"- Gen.29:35 In our reading passage for today 2 things jumped out for me. First, 2 chronicles 11:5 tells us that Solomon's son, Rehoboam built defense cities in Judah. Their is safety and defense in praise, and it is the best thing to build a defense in. Psalms tells us that God inhabits the praise of his people ( Ps. 22:3) Second, one of the defense cities is Bethlehem. Bethlehem? A defense city, Who woulda thought, but then how fitting for God to make an appearance, in a defense built in praise. I thought it was cool. Share your thoughts!

Mission: Amazima Ministeries International

Ok! This is a rather popular one - at least I think it's popular! I've seen the button on a lot of blogs! Well it's our turn! We want to share Amazima Ministeries International with those who haven't heard of this fabulous ministry! Honestly, God has been so good to this ministry that I can't put it into words! Seriously!  It was birthed in the heart of a young woman named Katie Davis who after teaching there, she realized the urgent need for affordable and sponsored schooling. She eventually started a sponsorship program through which orphaned children who couldn't afford an education would be able to thanks to a sponsor that would be matched to them. Because of Katie's desire to provide education for Ugandan children, the ministry grew to providing more than education. Amazima also supports children and their families in their walk with the Lord, supplies them with food, and provides visits by social workers. Total Wellness comes to mind! If you have

The Promise:Acts 1-2

The book of Acts is such an exciting book, because this is when the disciples of Christ are charged with putting the words of christ into action . The acts of the apostles showcase the apostles actions- what they did in response to the the words of the Lord. Just a few days ago we read in the book of John 20:22 where Jesus breathed on the disciples, telling them to "Receive the holy Spirit". He was essentially telling them the the holy Spirit is like his breath, and in Acts chapter 1 Jesus tells them to wait for the gift - the baptism of the Holy spirit.( Acts 1:5) In response to this command to wait for the gift of the holy spirit, the apostles, and many other believers ( about 120 people) met in an upstairs room. It is remarkable to note that among the 120 believers and disciples was Mary, the carrier of the Son of God, and she would be privileged with being the vessel of the Holy Spirit, yet again. The other thing that grabbed my attention is in in

Doing nothing still results in something: Obadiah

Obadiah 1 :11-12- New International Version "On the day you stood aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them. 12 You should not look down on your brother in the day of his misfortune, nor rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor boast so much in the day of their trouble." We live in a world of passivity. We like to mind our own business, too often pulling a "Samaritan-look-away" , because of insecurity or fear. Here is a people reaping the rewards of passivity, turning their heads on their brother's misfortune, rather than running to their aid. We all need a helping hand in this walk, and when we see someone stumbling or sliding back, we should quickly , lovingly, reach out. Yes, get in their business, not for vanity's sake, but for saving's sake. The other day I was stopped in my tracks when my husband caught me in a lie. I wanted to se
