The Power of Prayer

Here's this week's "Humpday humor".  Have a good laugh, on us.

This is the true Grace of God: 1 Peter 4-5

"Helping Hand" by Linda Williams" Sunday was filled with so much activity as my husband and I prepared to leave our 4 little ones with my parents for the week. We hustled and bustled going over the last minute checklists, throwing things in bags as we walked out the door-  and I still managed to leave the baby's bottle on the counter. But I digress. In all of that I felt peace -the  peace I had in their extended grace of watching the children was assuring. A few hours later, in the air, waching the sun descend like a fiery ball into an horizon of clouds, I was again filled with peace, because of my acceptance of my parents' graciousness. It was early this Monday morning that I read over yesterday's scripture . I love spending time with God at the dawn of the day. It is such a peaceful time, and happens to be one of the only moments when everyone is asleep, and in the quiet, still, half -light, I can tune into God without the external distractions of the

God's House: Haggai 1-3

"God's House by the Sunset" by asmundr from flickr Haggai 1:2-14 2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "These people say, 'The time has not yet come for the LORD's house to be built.' " 3 Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: 4 "Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?" 5 Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. 6 You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it." 7 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. 8 Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored," says the LORD. 9 "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be litt

Maybe this is why...( Deuteronomy 10-12)

I previously made an inquiry in the last post , and I said " I don't know why God chose blood " Then I read Monday's scripture and the lightbulb flickered up there in the ol' brain... Maybe, The Reason for blood is... " because the blood is the life "- Deuternomy12:23 What do you think?" Deuteronomy 12:32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

Yesterday, today ,and forever ( God doesn't change): 1 Peter 1-3

"Blue sunset at Jordan River" by Ivan Makarov There is a river that runs from Genesis to Revelation, blood that flows throughout generations-Chantel (C)2010 I was reading 1 Peter 1-3, and when I got to the part about Noah, it struck me. From the beginning of time as we understand it to be ( In the beginning, God- Gen. 1:1), God has and is consistent about certain principles. I do not claim to be exhaustive in this list, but as God guides me I will list. Holiness - or separation 1 Peter1:13 states the commandment that God gave to the children of Israel in the desert: " Be ye Holy, for I am Holy". So it wasn't a new thing, though for the some believers it may have been. Because God is holy, we, his children, are to be holy. He says it in other places, "Do not be conformed to the world" ( Rom.12:2), "come out from among them, and be separated" (2 cor. 6:17 ) Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers" (2 cor. 6:14 ); th

The day of Lord: Zephaniah

It speaks for itself, and is worth the read. Don't wait too late! Multiple posts in the same day, but I felt compelled to share it right away, and let the word of God do what it does. Zephaniah 1 The word of the LORD that came to Zephaniah son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, during the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah: Warning of Coming Destruction 2 "I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth," declares the LORD. 3 "I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. The wicked will have only heaps of rubble [a] when I cut off man from the face of the earth," declares the LORD. Against Judah 4 "I will stretch out my hand against Judah and against all who live in Jerusalem. I will cut off from this place every remnant of Baal, the names of the pagan and the idolatrous priests- 5 those who bow down on the roofs to worship the starry host, those

Seasons:Ecclesiastes 3-4

"Seasons" The rains come- flowers drink and lift their faces to the sun and strain against the winds of fall and bow, cowering at the wintry cold; but then the rains come and again sun - Chantel (C) 2010 A missionary from the Philippines visited our church last night. It was our usual midweek service, but that is all that was usual. I perked up when Missionary Dibble, as his name is, took his passage from Ecclesiastes 3. I felt like the person in a crowd who knows the secret that is about to be told to everyone. I felt like the one who goes around bursting with the knowledge of something but reluctant to spoil the surprise for everyone else. OK , I suppose it wasn't that serious, but hey Ecclesiastes 3-4 was the reading for the day, and I felt good. But here is the point. Between the seasons of birth and death, there are many seasons that we ebb and flow through in our lifetime. In the midst of this we, as children of God have the authority through the Holy Spirit

child logic: waitress vs. God

That sounds like something my 6 year old would say! Malachi 3:10-12 (King James Version) 10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

Don't get mad- get glad!: 2 Chronicles 29-32

The reading passage for Tuesday had me at a standstill. I always seem to take longer in the history books. So I read it in several sittings throughout the day, rather than one full sitting. Each time I went back, I ended up re-reading as well, and these two verses stuck out to me each time: 2 Chronicles 29: 27-29 27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt offering on the altar. As the offering began, singing to the LORD began also , accompanied by trumpets and the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the singers sang and the trumpeters played. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed. 29 When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with him knelt down and worshiped. 30 King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed their heads and worshiped. So i said to myself- wa

and all the christians in the whole world....

When my children and I say their bedtimes prayers, it always end the same "bless mommy and daddy and mom-mom and pop, and Nannie and grand dad, my whole family, and all the Christians in the whole world, in Jesus name, Amen! " When my sister Kendra first started mission Mondays she wrote a compelling posts entitle " Remember the chains ". I happened upon a church's website this morning with an exhaustive list of the missionaries they support and one tab was one with missionaries in sensitive countries. Missionaries in countries that forbid the gospel in any form. Kendra had a knack for finding awesome mission projects, she is a little under the weather so please keep her in prayer. Today for mission Monday , remember the chains of those who are being persecuted for the sake of the gospel. Take a look at the Voice of the martyrs and Unreached People of the day bottom of this page and don't just look- really say a prayer. For the bible lets us know tha
