"A REAL FRIEND WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOUR FACE IS DIRTY"- sicilian proverb
The nuggets of truth from Proverbs are so timeless!
Chapter twenty-seven brought to mind all the people I call friends ( love you, Kendra!) and how multidimensional a true friendship must be. Solomon reminded me that a true friend will not hold back the truth, especially if it could save my life. And I must recognize the value in that friend who is unafraid to be truthful to me.
On the other hand I am encouraged to know that, to a hungry soul, something bitter will taste sweet ( Prov. 27:7) This tells me that when there is a hunger for right, that a sometimes tough pill, can be swallowed. My friend will recognize the love in my truth, so there is no fear of losing my friendship.
So As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. ( Prov. 27:17)
Being a friend is more then just cordiality and politeness, it is about realities and righteousness.
I am thankful for the honor of being and having a friend, and how wonderful it is to know that there is no greater love than this; that a man would lay down his life for his friends- our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
