Christ the Lord

In one week, it will be the eve of a long awaited day for many across the nation, and the world. Anticipation throbs in the air. Houses are being cleaned. Lists are being checked and rechecked. Travel plans are being confirmed, and menus are being finalized. Many intend to recognize and celebrate the coming of the newborn King. The bible tells of another day. A day so long awaited that no one even knows the date or time. A day that the whole world, the bible says, groans in anticipation of. In preparation, spiritual houses are being cleaned, lists are being checked and rechecked, and travel plans are being confirmed. It must be with great intention that  we recognize the promise fulfilled of the messiah in the form of a newborn King. It must be with even greater anticipation that we prepare for the second coming of the same, not new born, but the risen and glorified King of kings. For the Word declares he is more than just a baby born in a manger. He is the sinless one that t...

That I might not sin against thee

Reading the Word of God is to be a constant. It's easy to neglect this act of worship in the hustle and bustle of our media saturated world. When we look at the things that are constant in our lives, some of them have no value compared to the Word of God, yet we still "find" time to incorporate them into our everyday lives. We fail to pray, but do not fail to play. Why? Our body is a constant reminder to the natural things. We need spiritual reminders. Just like it may seem children constantly need reminding of the same rule over and over, so we need reminding of the value of the Word. We need reminding to read the Word.  This month we are going back to the roots of this blog. I all started with a Bible Reading plan that, in order to be accountable, grew into blogging our daily reading along with our personal notes. I have already begun, but invite you , Our One Message readers, to join in reading the bible everyday, and join in the discussion of the scriptures. We...

Reviving the soul

Psalm 19: 7 Not one jot, accent mark,  or dot is without strategic purpose in the inspired, written Word of God.  Just as carefully as salt is measured for a recipe,  the same of which too little or too much can destroy the goodness of a dish,  the words of the Word are so measured. This perfectly meted Word,  revives,  or brings life back,  to the soul.  The King James version says it converts the soul. See, the Word of God does this work.  The Word converts the soul- whether little by little for some,  or a miraculous about face for others.   The soul is changed. The Word is perfected for this purpose.  It brings dead back to life. Nothing is out of the reach of the perfect Word of God. With constant application of the Word of life,  something is bound to change. Warmest thoughts and prayers,  Chantel

Believe, For Real

Nothing New It's one of those biblical principles that is repeated so often that Christians have lost the reality and the impact of it. How often have we heard in seminars and read in books, and seen in movies and the like, that if you believe you can achieve! Well what does the Bible say? Mark 9:23 says it this way- If thou cans't believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. If you can just believe,  anything is possible to him that believes. So there you have it. No special translation or revelation or interpretation needed. The infallible Word of God says, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE  TO HIM THAT BELIEVES. But what of this word ALL? No exclusions, no exceptions. And what of this word BELIEVES? Entirely convinced of the surety of a thing, even a present believing. See we believe, but to a point. Logic, rationale, and earthly wisdom win out over faith. We get stuck in pre-salvation thinking.  Ephesians 4:22-24 says that you put o...

Great is His faithfulness

Lamentations 3:23 God is not like man. He is the epitome of consistency. God is consistently God, and consistently good. His Word is perfect, complete, without lack. It will never pass away. Knowing the God that we serve and knowing the Word he has spoken, gives us hope; even in the midst of chaos, God's will is unfolding, and the end result will be better than we could have orchestrated or imagined. God the creator, the most powerful force in existence, the all-knowing, ever-present master of all, is not taken by surprise by the circumstances we face in life. With one word, he can uproot a mountain from the bottom of the sea. With one thought he can change the color of the sun. The possibilities are endless. Nothing is impossible with God. What you, as a child of God, may be experiencing is perfectly ordered by a perfect God. While there is a grand list of people and things that may fail us,  Jesus never fails. It's because of his mercies that we are not consu...
