In one week, it will be the eve of a long awaited day for many across the nation, and the world. Anticipation throbs in the air. Houses are being cleaned. Lists are being checked and rechecked. Travel plans are being confirmed, and menus are being finalized. Many intend to recognize and celebrate the coming of the newborn King.
The bible tells of another day. A day so long awaited that no one even knows the date or time. A day that the whole world, the bible says, groans in anticipation of. In preparation, spiritual houses are being cleaned, lists are being checked and rechecked, and travel plans are being confirmed.
It must be with great intention that we recognize the promise fulfilled of the messiah in the form of a newborn King. It must be with even greater anticipation that we prepare for the second coming of the same, not new born, but the risen and glorified King of kings. For the Word declares he is more than just a baby born in a manger. He is the sinless one that took the place of the entire human race- dying for sins we should have died for- because he loved us too much to watch us bear that pain of deserved punishment.
Just as the chorus proclaims, heard in the air during this season of celebration:

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.-1 Timothy 3:16
O Come let us adore Him
