At the Door: A tool for Sharing Jesus

* Printable version below Knock! Knock! Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20 Who's there?  I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6). What do you want? I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) In me is life, and this life is the light of men (John 1:4). As many as receive me, to them I give power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on my name (John 1:12).  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18  He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath n...

Blessing is His Delight

Deuteronomy 28 details the blessings that would overtake the keepers of the law that the  Lord gives to his children. Interestingly enough out of 68 verses in this chapter only 15 of them are given to the blessings. The rest are the burdensome curses that would overtake the rebel to the law- the one who would dare to disobey. I'm sure you can see where I am going with this- It is easy to get caught up in the blessings that are the benefit of obedience. As you trudge through the ongoing list of curses, it begins to weigh on you. There is a sense of this gloom as it is read through and listened to. The instinctual response is to avoid this heaviness. Exactly. God wants the curses to be so foreboding that this side, the negatives, of the chapter is avoided. He has taken great pains to establish such terrible reward for disobedience because,  really he wants his children to reap the rewards of obedience. He so greatly wants to bless. His delight is in the blessing. He...

Peace on Earth

"...And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. " ( Isaiah 9:6) As the angels sang glory to God in the highest, the lyrics to their chorus included "peace on earth, good will to men." With the birth of the savior into the world, the prince of peace introduced himself to humanity. In the Hebrew, the word for peace, Shalom , indicates more than what we generally attribute peace to be. It is more than just a quietness or an absence of confusion. Peace represents wholeness and completion. So when the angels sang of peace on earth, they were telling us that with Jesus comes wholeness and completion. Immanuel, God with us, ushered in peace personified, manifested as one of his own creation. When we truly find Jesus, we find a peace that is beyond natural understanding. It is a peace that the world can not comprehend, yet is available to all. This is why he came -in the humblest of beginnings- to give us p...

Which was, and is, and is to come ( All in his Plan)

Much of Isaiah 53 is written in past tense. For example Surely he took up our pain      and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God,      stricken by him, and afflicted. 5  But he was pierced  for our transgressions,      he was crushed  for our iniquities; the punishment  that brought us peace  was on him,      and by his wounds  we are healed. 6  We all, like sheep, have gone astray,      each of us has turned to our own way; and the  Lord   has laid on him      the iniquity  of us all. It's like it happened before it happened, for, this prophecy was given thousands of years before the manifestation of Jesus Christ on earth.  Isn't that amazing? The book of Revelations refers to "the lamb slain before the foundation of the world". This means, the plan was already performed in the r...

The Comforter, The Holy Ghost

Just think- the disciples had the privilege of being in the company of God. They laughed with Jesus. They talked and prayed with Jesus. They walked with Jesus, had lunch and fished with Jesus.  Jesus slept among them, and he was the physical shoulder they could lean on. Ah, what great honor. So imagine the sadness as they watched him endure the cross, and give his last breath. Imagine the emptiness when their master and friend was laid in a borrowed tomb. Imagine the emotional high and then the quickly following low, as their newly revealed and ressurected Lord was taken up in a cloud as they watched him til they could see him no more. But before he left them gazing up toward the sky, he reminded them that the comforter he told them about, the promise from the Father, the Holy Ghost, would come to them in a few days from now. The anticipation of the promise, and the command to go and wait for it, found 120 disciples, the apostles among them, in a room in the upper floor of ...

A Present help... an Early help

When I read Psalm 46 for the something thousandth time in my life it struck a different chord. First God is my refuge and strength, a VERY PRESENT HELP, in trouble. Therefore I will not fear; even if the earth is removed and though the waters are raging about me. Why? He is our present help. Then look- There is a river. I pause. I praise God for the river. For he promised that his Spirit will be in me flowing like rivers of waters. There is a river, the streams, whereof, shall make glad the city of God. Yes! Yes, for there is joy in the Holy Spirit. He has made me glad. God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved. God is in me. I will not be moved. He is my rock and my foundation. I will not be moved, God shall help her, and that right early. God will help her. God will help her. God will help me. It is God's will to help me, and not just help me ,but help me early. Not, right in the nick of time; EARLY! Hallelujah! I am that city that God is in the m...

Drawing Near to God

Hebrews 10:19-22 ( clickable passage ) With the shedding of Jesus's blood upon the cross at calvary, the  temple veil was torn. The tearing of this veil granted us access to the holy of holies.   This access to the throne room, was once exclusive to the high priests under the law of Moses; and that once a year. The high priest had to, first, offer sin offering for himself before he could offer the atonement sacrifice for the congreagation. But thanks be to God for the one sinless and blameless  high priest, who offered himself as a pure sacrifice, for the remission of sins of the entire human race. the book of Hebrews reiterates this sacrifice and the rewards that are a gift of grace, which are received of those who believe in the atoning work of Jesus's blood for them ( Hebrews 10:19). Verse 22 in the tenth chapter of Hebrew now urges the believer to take advantage of the access we have to the throne. We can enter boldly. How? By, or by way of...
