His Faithful Love Endures Forever

And ever, and ever... Psalm 136 takes the reader from seeing the big picture of who God is,  funnels down to his wondrous acts,  and brings it into eye view by declaring his acts in the writers personal life. It resonates with this mantra-his faithful love endures forever. I noticed, that though the phrase is repetitive, it is not redundant. It comes at the beginning, middle, and end of each recount of God's merciful acts to Israel. It seems to cut in, where the story should logically continue; but there it is, smack in the middle - "His mercy endures forever". This is a strong reminder that the God who in the start of this chapter created the heavens as an act of mercy, is capable of securing every moment of your life story. Every detail of our lives are painted with the brush of his enduring faithful love. Recognize his mercy at work in the harder moments. They too are part of the beautiful story that will testify of his mercy toward you, and add to ...

Making Choices & Weighing the options

Psalm 119:30-32 New International Version (NIV) 30  I have chosen  the way of faithfulness;       I have set my heart  on your laws. 31  I hold fast  to your statutes,  Lord ;      do not let me be put to shame. 32  I run in the path of your commands,      for you have broadened my understanding. Almost each moment of every, day from the time we blink open our eyes, we are faced with decisions. Some take less thought and consideration than others. Some decisions, however, result in inner conflict. In this walk with Christ, choosing to remain faithful to our calling as a child of God is, many moments a walk in the park. Other moments it's a walk on a bed of fiery coals- it's so much easier to take the more comfortable road. Either way we must, each moment, choose life. We must purposely choose life. We must purposely choose his will, until our will is his. We mus...

When you pray

This is a devotional that I do with my children most mornings during our prayer time. This morning, it hit me square in the chest. So that you may know

1 Kings 17:17-24 Tragedy hit the House of the widowed woman who helped Elijah . Her son became ill and died. She assumed it was punishment for her sins. Elijah prayed. The boy was healed. The widow woman exclaims that NOW she knows for sure, he truly is a man of God. Did she not know before? Why was there a trace of doubt after the miracle of food was evidenced daily before her eyes? One would think she was convinced. God only knows the deepest thoughts of our hearts. He knew she somehow still had questions. Her son had to die, and be brought to life; not because of her sins but because of her hidden lack of faith. God wanted it to be unwavering. The sudden valley you may find yourself in, may be because God wants to increase your faith. We think we trust him, but is there something that he sees that we can't? He wants you to say, with confidence, that God is what he says he is, and will do what he said he'd do. he wants you to exclaim, Now I know . Warmest though...

A new heart, to see

1 Samuel 10:6-14 New Living Translation (NLT) 6  At that time the Spirit of the  Lord  will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.   7  After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you.   8  Then go down to Gilgal ahead of me. I will join you there to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. You must wait for seven days until I arrive and give you further instructions.” Samuel’s Signs Are Fulfilled 9  As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day.   10  When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy. 11  When those who knew Saul heard about it, they exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet? How did the son of Kish become a prophet?” ...

He is your life

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 After a bright list of blessings and a gruesome list of curses, the choice seems obvious- cheerful obedience. As it would be, however, God makes it even clearer. "I put before you life and death, curses and blessings; choose life. " Choose life he says, giving the answer to the multiple choice proposal. Then to clarify even more, verse 20 tells us that choosing life is essentially choosing God. It says, "He is your life." Jesus reiterated this in the gospels when he says to a sorrowful friend, "I am...the life". Without God, there is no life. Rather, one Rather, one is faced with having as much worth as a"white washed tomb with dead mans bones" or a "water-less cloud".Yet, When you choose him, he brings you to life; for, he is your life. Hidden, in the wilderness

1 Samuel 23:14,25 The Wilderness. It brings barrenness, dryness, nothingness, to mind. As Christians we seem programmed to avoid it as much as possible. We may think of the Israelites, walking 40 years in a wilderness. And it wasn't a good thing, right? It occurred to me ...
