On A Mission- Just Go!

A few years ago, I was sitting at home with my 3 children. I was so restless and aimless. I am a stay at home mom, but I felt like there had to be more for me to do. Yes, I was content in knowing that my calling was to mother my children for this season of life, but there was still something lacking. I knew that being home, I had more opportunity than most working folk to be more spiritually active, per se. There was possibly more time to read my word, pray, meditate, and have awesome spiritual encounters. One morning during prayer I thought, what is the point of me reading and fasting and praying and meditating, If I am not passing this on. I felt a real sense of urgency to get out there. But God how can I get out there with children? Excuses. I got up from my knees, wiped my eyes, and got dressed. I got my little one dressed, plopped her in her stroller and went outside. I started with my neighbors. I was nervous- what do I say? but I was purposeful. I knocked on a door- no answer. ...

Blot worthy or blood worthy?: Revelation 1-6

Revelation 3:5 King James Version (KJV) 5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life , but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.   I stopped after I read this verse. It dawned on me that our names are not written in the book of life as we progress through life on earth, for it was already there.  Something must be already written to be blotted out. Matthew 18:14 Even so it is not the  will  of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should  perish . 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not  will ing that  any  should  perish , but that all should come to repentance.   So to him that overcomes, his name will remain in the book of life, as opposed to being blotted out.    The way we escape the ...

Nehemiah: against the Odds

I read a post today about standing out ( read it here ). I  also finished the book of Nehemiah today and  "against all odds "seemed to be a good theme for this book if I had to choose just one. Nehemiah boldly took on the task of restoring Jerusalem's wall, finishing it in record time, with people from all sides trying to keep it from happening. When the temple was out of order, he stood up in its defense and reordered it. He expressed his anger with the relaxed attitude many of the Israelites had regarding God's laws, and commanded fear and reverence for the things of God. When the leaders stepped out of line, he was not intimidated. He told them what the deal was, and if they didn't like it, they were cut off. Nehemiah was a man out to get things done, and to get them done right, because God was worth that. Maybe we find ourselves in situations where others around us may feel it doesn't take "all that" to be a christian. Things have been don...

King Jesus: Zaechariah 8-14

Zechariah 14:9  The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name. (NIV) I read this and realized this is the greatest end to the greatest beginning ever. Jehovah will be King over the whole earth. He will be the only authority. Jehovah's name, Jesus, will be the only name.  This means those who have been immersed in His name, and immersed and walked in his Spirit, will have kingdom privileges that all others will not. The children of God will reign with Him. So decide now what side of the Kingdom line you will be on. One day it will be too late to switch sides. The day of the Jesus's Kingship on earth is soon to come. Interested? Click on The bible way to salvation on the right of this page.  Go with God.

This shall come to pass, if...:Zechariah 1-7

I try to be careful when I use the phrase "I promise". This is especially true when it comes to  my children. They tend to feel it is is their responsibility to remind us of things said and forgotten. I thank God that he is not like me- he has no problem with the phrase " I promise", for He has every intention to fulfill whatever he says. God's character of mercy and compassion stand out to me as the theme in the old testament. (of course, this is the theme in the entire bible). In regard to the old testament, however, the relationship between God and Israel is constantly thwarted by Israel turning away from God, and God calling them back to him. He knows that they will land in sudden and utter destruction without Him. He has promises that he wants to fulfill. You see, God WANTS to make good on his promises. He does not want forsake his will. He will not forsake his will. 2 Chronicles 16:9, reminds us that God is looking for those whose heart is perfect ...

Our Help is in the NAME of the Lord: Psalm 122-124

Our help is in the name of the LORD,    the Maker of heaven and earth.- Psalm 124:8 Today's passage, Psalm 122-124 heralded several attributes of God. In chapter 122 he is the one who is desired. In  chapter 123 God is the giver of mercy. In chapter 124, God is the deliverer. Verse eight of this chapter caught my eye because of the wording. David does not write that his help is in the Lord, but more specifically, his help is in the NAME of the Lord. It is awesome that with all the myriad of names for our Jehovah, that every attribute of God is wrapped up in the glorified name JESUS. It is in this name that we can know God as Elohim, for all power is given unto Him in earth and heaven. It is in this name that we can know God as provider for he saves us from poverty. Jesus saves us from dis-ease. Jesus saves us from confusion- He is the prince of peace. And the list goes on. Take a look at all the names for God. It is worth going through them all, even if not all in ...

Simply Irresistible: Acts 5-6

Acts 6:10 "And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake." There it was in Acts 5:33- those who heard the gospel were cut to the heart. I recall it again in Acts chapter 2. The crowd was pricked in the heart at the hearing of the word. Of course the results were polar opposites. One group wanted to know more, and one group wanted to stone the messengers. There was, however, another uniting factor. The message of the gospel could not be resisted. Why? Acts 6:10 tells us the hearers in yet another witnessing opportunity could not resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. At first glance one would assume it to be directly the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit that could not be resisted. A closer look reveals in fact this spirit, being written with a lower cased 's', indicates something else.
