Ephesians 3:14-15 (King James Version)
14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Ephesians 3:14-15 (New King James Version)
"Appreciation of the Mystery"
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Ephesians 3:14-15 (New International Version)
"A Prayer for the Ephesians"
14For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15from whom his whole family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name.
My Notes:
Father- one who originates or institutes
-source
-protector and provider ; from the Greek word pater
*So, the whole family is named after the Father ( we are joint heirs [Rom. 8:17], adopted, grafted in[Rom. 11:17])
*The Bride of Christ( Rev. 21:9), takes on the name of her husband ( who becomes provider and protector)
*Jesus says he has manifested the Father's name ( John 17:6) and has declared the Father's name ( John 17:26).
*David called Jehovah God his redeemer(Psalm 19:14), or the one who repurchased him. Jesus is our redeemer, for he purchased us with his blood( Acts 20:28, Titus 2:14, Luke 1:68)
What is our Father's name?
And as we are born again into His Family, declaring His name, we take on the name of our Father, and are heirs of the promises to His children.
