Mission: Water4Christmas

Hi all! It's Missions Monday!! I get so excited! Truly!

While on Beautiful Mess-Psalm 40's blog, I was touched so deeply by her post on Water For Christmas! It's definitely a cause to support! We have all kinds of gadgets, movies, CDs, and gift cards that are all just distractions waiting to be bought and given this Christmas holiday. But there are over a billion of people all over the world who don't have access to clean water! Ridiculous! We're dying and killing ourselves over debt but our brothers & sisters are dying because of lack of clean water. Water has so many more  uses besides just drinking! Charity:water says that the average American uses 150 gallons of water a day while the average person in a developing country struggles to find 5 gallons!

This is what charity:water says to the question "Why water?"

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, walk more than three hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick. Those hours are crucial, preventing many from working or attending school. Additionally, collecting water puts them at greater risk of sexual harassment and assault. Children are especially vulnerable to the consequences of unsafe water.  Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years old.  OUR PLANET IS 70% WATER. 97.5% OF THAT IS SALTWATER. THIS MEANS ONLY 2.5% IS AVAILABLE FOR THE 6 BILLION PEOPLE ON THE PLANET TODAY. We get our water from the 30% of freshwater that exists in underground lakes and aquifers - mainly by digging wells.  Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean water just below the ground, but no way to get to it.

Let's band together  you guys and support this wonderful effort! I know that during this season we are bombarded with pleas to give, even giving to those less fortunate in America. But we can't dismiss this one!
Visit their site NOW! Give for you, your moms, dads, and grandparents who always say they don't need anything. Give on behalf of the person who has everything - including water (that option on gift-finding sites always make  me laugh...if they have everything then why is there a gift-finding category for them! Wasteful!)!

ok. I am blown away. I watched the video on charitywater.org and i could not believe the drunking water conditions. It was very appalling. I have made a choice to donate.

Crazy right?! What gets me is, it's not just about water! When you sit back and think about the things we call little, these are big things to someone in another part of the world! If I could live off of a percentage of what I have just to share with someone in need, I truly would! Andrew & I have decided to donate too!

So awesome to be able to pass the information along. It is crazy how IMPORTANT the things we take for granted are.

Love what you ladies are doing! Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Mission: Christmas Blessing

Peace & love everybody! I've been so excited it's been hard to contain myself regarding today's mission! I hope that after reading this post, you'll be as encouraged as I am now! Known by most today as "the last Stalinist country" and according to VOM, "one of the most repressive and isolated regimes in the world", North Korea needs our prayers, monetary support, and volunteers. It's even being reported that a holocaust is occurring there as I'm writing this! Christians are being tortured, killed, and having "experiments" run on them all because they testify that Jesus is their Lord. Read a short synopsis of what Persecution.com has to say about North Korea and check out their related links. Thanks to our family over at The Voice of the Martyrs, we will be able to encourage and support our North Korean brothers and sisters! With our donations of $50 we will be able to sponsor a package that will have hard-to-get essentials,

Earnestly contend for the Faith: Jude

Today's passage is Revelation 18-22, but here I am one book behind in Jude. I just wanted to spend some time in this one chaptered book. I love that the Word of God is LIVELY and ACTIVE, and, though never changing, it is always revealing. I got stuck on Jude verse 3. The words EARNESTLY and CONTEND, made me think, wow, we have to put up a fight for this thing. I read, and scribbled in my notebook as I went through. Here is what I wrote:

child logic: waitress vs. God

That sounds like something my 6 year old would say! Malachi 3:10-12 (King James Version) 10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
