Ushering in the Presence of Jehovah

Exodus 40:34 Moses meticulously arranged the tabernacle and its coverings and its furniture exactly as the Lord commanded him. It was only after he completed the task in entirety and as commanded, that the cloud of God's glory  covered and filled, the work. In fact, the purpose of the work was for God's glory to dwell among the people. There is no  manifested glory of God without the work or act of obedience to God. There is no abiding presence of God, without obeying -submitting to- the voice of God. Obedience to his word is  worship. When we worship God, we are rolling out the carpet so to speak,  for the King.  We  usher in His glory. *Image from the web*

Facing self: the mirror & laver

The brazen laver was fashioned from the looking glasses of the woman who  assembled at the door of the tabernacle. The brazen laver, made from mirrors, and filled with water,  is a  type of mirror itself. It  helps  us come face to face with our selves.  At the reflecting waters of the laver,  we are reminded,  of our need for cleansing. We  allow our sinful nature to be confronted by the spiritually cleansing Word,  made active in our lives by our obedience to it. Ephesians 5:26 further shows us that God's desire is for his church to be cleansed with the washing of water by the Word. The cleansing at the tabernacle was performed when the priests went to the water,  and applied it. It is the same manner in which we are cleansed with the washing of water by /through the Word of God. We must let it touch us. We must apply it to our hearts and minds. James 1:21 admonishes believers to receive the Word with meekness. We must submit to the Word of God. James 1:22-25 goes on ...

Building Altars

Exodus 20:24-25 NLT “Build for me an altar made of earth, and offer your sacrifices to me—your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats, and your cattle. Build my altar wherever I cause my name to be remembered, and I will come to you and bless you. If you use stones to build my altar, use only natural, uncut stones. Do not shape the stones with a tool, for that would make the altar unfit for holy use. 1 Kings 18:31-33 KJV And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be thy name: And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord : and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. It's a marvelous exhilarating feeling...

The Dwelling-place Influence

If I make the Lord my dwelling place no evil will come near my dwelling. "- Psalm 91:10. Genesis 14:14-16 Genesis 19:1 Lot lived in Sodom. He bore the consequences of being associated with the people of Sodom.  His (and his family's) capture and near death encounter should have been his clue to leave. Yet though he was captured and delivered, he still returned back to the place of his snare. So many people find themselves returning to the place of their capture. He whom the son sets free should possess that freedom in deed. We ought  to actively manifest what  we are, or risk becoming something else. Then Shall I be Upright

Psalm 19:13 Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me; then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. What does it take to be upright?  According to this verse there are several factors: 1. One must be a servant of the Lord. Notice the psalmist  says "thy servant". Who is "thy" referring to here? The Lord. When we are the Lord's servant, in other words he is our master, that gives him the authority over to keep us back from things. 2. We must be in submission to the master- for him to keep us back, we have to allow him to do so. The psalmist is asking the master, the Lord, to keep him back, thereby allowing and permitting the Lord to govern. 3. One must deny sin's  dominion in their heart. We are no longer slaves to sin. Sin should not have dominion over us. To be presumptuous is to have an irreverent disregard to boundaries and rules. To walk in sin presumptuously is to declare J...

The Integrity of a true Worshipper

The Reading God's Story Bible Plan reading journey has taken us to the book of Job. God's sovereignty and Job's faithfulness are brought into major focus. Our finite understanding of God and his doings is made obvious. Job constantly in his complaint, keeps the perspective of a praiser. He holds to his integrity. "The Lord gives and takes away- blessed be the name of the Lord" Job 1:21. His closest companion, his wife,  points out the lack of logic Job expresses through his response to submit to God and say "Yes" to Him, though he "slays him".  Job 2:9. Job remains steadfast. In his pain, in his agony, in his grief- Job responds with worship.  Worship unto God is the outward expression of our love for him. Worship unto God says we value you highly. We value you this much- enough to live out our love for you. Worship is not situation-based or provision-based. Worship is love-based. Worship is relationship-based. Worship is not about a p...
