Faith speech: Are you Hearing?

Luke 5:4-5
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Here, Jesus just finished preaching a sermon from the hull of Simon's boat. Simon, however, was certainly not prepared for what Jesus would say next. Jesus was done speaking to the crowd, but now He was speaking a personal Word to Simon. "Launch out into the deep..." He says.  Jesus was right to expect that Simon, after hearing the Word, would respond by faith to his instruction.

Yet....
How did Simon respond?  "...We have toiled all night and have taken nothing" he says. He speaks in doubt instead of acting  out faith.
The Word of God tells us in Romans 10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.-
It's amazing that with such close proximity to the Word faith did not come. Are we guilty of this ourselves? Do we have such access to the Word and yet still respond in doubt. It begs to consider, are we truly hearing?
To truly hear means to shut out the noise, diminish the distractions, focus on the word being spoken by God through the means at hand. Whether through a preacher, a spirit-led neighbor or friend, or the word "spoken" through it's reading, let the Word feed your faith. Then let your faith produce actions that are telling of a believer, launching you into the deep. These signs shall follow them who believe.

Mission: New Tribes

Hi Family! We hope that your holiday was truly blessed! Not blessed with things  but blessings of fellowship, giving, and most importantly, love. I think we take for granted the opportunity to be surrounded by people who  actually  want to be around us and who want to invest in our lives in some way! Although our year is full of holidays of pagan origin, they are awesome times for the family of God to gather together and just love on each other! Also, I surely don't take holidays that my husband gets off of work lightly! Love....

Mission: Christmas Blessing

Peace & love everybody! I've been so excited it's been hard to contain myself regarding today's mission! I hope that after reading this post, you'll be as encouraged as I am now! Known by most today as "the last Stalinist country" and according to VOM, "one of the most repressive and isolated regimes in the world", North Korea needs our prayers, monetary support, and volunteers. It's even being reported that a holocaust is occurring there as I'm writing this! Christians are being tortured, killed, and having "experiments" run on them all because they testify that Jesus is their Lord. Read a short synopsis of what Persecution.com has to say about North Korea and check out their related links. Thanks to our family over at The Voice of the Martyrs, we will be able to encourage and support our North Korean brothers and sisters! With our donations of $50 we will be able to sponsor a package that will have hard-to-get essentials, ...
