FIG leaves are not enough

"It seems that many of us today are spiritually settling."  Satan has convinced us that the voice of God is enough. Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and could still hear and recognize God's voice. Genesis 3:8 Yes, they heard God's voice. What they were suddenly robbed of was the presence of God. The presence of God is where there is fullness of joy and pleasures evermore. Psalm 16:11 But we have settled. We have become OK with half joy and fleeting pleasures. We have convinced ourselves that as long as we hear God's voice we are okay. But the scriptures in 2 Timothy 3:5 warn us of this way of thinking. Good idea, but what did God say? " They tried to use a natural solution for a spiritual problem.  They gave up their liberty to be in God's holy presence." In Genesis 3 Adam and Eve chose self gratification over obedience and suddenly felt uncovered. They were naked all along before they disobeyed their Fathe...

The greatest commandment?: The Shema

Devarim 6:4 Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) 4  Shema Yisroel Adonoi Eloheinu Adonoi Echad. The Greatest commandment Greater or lesser commandments? I would not think this to be so, but when asked which is the first commandment of all, this was the response: Mark 12:29-31 King James Version (KJV) 29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. No other commandment greater than these says Jesus. "No other commandment greater than these." Deuteronomy 6:4- King James Version (KJV) 4  Hear, O Israel: The  Lord  our God is one  Lord : 5  And tho...

Sin, death, obedience, righteousness

from "alookintomymind.wordpress.com" Romans 6:15-16, 18, 20-23 NLT Well then, since God's grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. image from the web Is your lifestyle propelling you to life or death?...

Don't Forget to Check the Oil

Leviticus 24:2 The continual burning of the candles in the temple depended on the pure oil. If the flame is burnt out in your spiritual life, if the passion has regressed, and the zeal has subsided, it may be time for an oil check. Our purity is threatened by the hundreds with each passing second of our life on earth; and this is without our direct influence. Add our lifestyle choices to the mix, especially those that we've justified as "not that bad", and you've got the recipe for some good 'ol spiritual fire extinguisher, or worse, a flame retardant. If you want the joy and passion of salvation restored, check your oil. See what "dead flies" Ecclesiastes 10:1  or "leaven" 1 Corinthians 5:6-7   may be corrupting your spirit, and hindering you from being on fire for God. Warmest thoughts and prayers, Chantel

He called him friend; the pain of betrayal

Here is a somethingI feel needs to be shared. We expect enemies to attack. But what happens when friends turn on you? How are you supposed to deal with a spouse who now slanders you and turns the kids against you? What defense is there against a family member who shuns you? Exactly what should you do about a "loving, Christian church member" who leads a mutiny among the body of believers, leaving a wake of bloodshed behind.... Read the rest at the the link below. You'll be glad you did. The Pain of Betrayal . I pray it blesses you. -Chantel

God,The Word, The Gift of Life

John 1:1 In the beginning was The Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. Revelations 1:8   I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. The Word is God. John 4:24 God is a Spirit : a nd they that worship him must worship him in spirit a nd in truth.   God is a Spirit.     Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy ( speak God-enabled utterances)... God pours out his Spirit. John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit , and they are life .   John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life . A Soft Heart

I wanted to share something I read and shared years ago: Bind the Word to your heart Do you notice how easy it is to get a hard heart? God's value system is so often in direct contrast to the values of our world. God knows that our hearts will be pulled in directions away from Him. He also knows that when we go with that pull we will find our hearts hardening. We will become aware of a nagging sense of dissatisfaction and impatience with life and with those around us. He cautions us... "See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness" (Hebrews 3: 12 & 13). Many times we don't even notice the hard crust that settles around our heart. We compromise in "little" things and think it won't matter. Yet for the believer, there is inner frustration when we allow things ...
