The Revelation of Jesus Christ Part 7: The Lion and the Lamb

Part 6 of our "Revelation of Jesus Christ" Study  took us to chapter 4; it declared the creator of Heaven and earth to be none other than Jesus Christ- Jehovah our Salvation. We last see John in heaven gazing upon ONE being on the throne. This being is God himself, [Revelation 4:8], who is being worshiped by beasts and elders. Chapter 5 continues from this scene. And I saw in the right  hand  of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2  Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”  3  And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. What do you observe here? A. there is a HIM sitting (alone) on the throne B. HE (alone) is holding a heavily sealed scroll ( 7 seals to be exact) C.An angel (curiously described as strong) poses the question about worthiness to open the...

The Revelation of Jesus Christ Part 6: The Throne

How do you think you'd feel to have a personal invitation from a King to come closer to him? John receives such an invitation in Revelation 4, and he is captivated by all he sees. His record is so vivid as he depicts the throne, the one on the throne, and the sights around it. "Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said,  “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.” (NLT)    And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald ."(KJV) - Revelation 4:1-3  First I take note of the open door. Isn't that a beautiful reminder of the veil between God and man that was torn? Jesus invites us personally to the throne of God. Second John lets us kn...

The Revelation of Jesus Christ Part 5: 7 Churches

I AM Alpha. Omega. Beginning. Ending Saith the LORD. I AM He that liveth and was dead; Alive forevermore Who is the I AM ? Who is HE that lives but was dead? JESUS . Undeniably, unarguably- JESUS . Our dissection of Revelation chapter one has led us to an encounter with a throne. Jesus is spoken of numerous times in the bible in relation to this throne. Understanding the throne is essential to understanding the God on the throne, for thrones imply kings, and kings imply authority. Before we get deeper into the throne room, let's look first at Revelation chapter two and three to discover more details about Jesus, the self- declared I AM... Jesus has messages for seven churches and with these messages he introduces himself to each one of them descriptively. Revelation 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; Revelation 2:...

The Revelation of Jesus Christ Part 4: The Alpha

In part three we focused on the phrase as uttered by God, ( visit part three here )  "I am alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending" To our delight we see these words repeated many times in both the old  and new testaments. Every time it was recorded it is first person spoken. We notice it is God almighty speaking this of himself. None can argue with that. We are  also given, in chapter 1, not just words spoken by the Almighty, but a vivid description of his image: one like unto the Son of man , clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. his head and his hairs were white like wool , as white as snow his eyes were as flames of fire his feet like unto fine brass his voice like the sound of many waters out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword his c ountenance was as the sun shineth   This "one like unto the son of man" feels it is important to again make it clear who H...

The Revelation of Jesus Christ Part 3: The voice

Revelation. For what is revealed is no longer hidden. We have established John's credibility as the writer of this book as he transcribes the wonderful words of Almighty God to the church.  You can  read this in  Part two here. Continuing in chapter one, we come to this passage of scripture. 4 "John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, John here begins with a greeting of grace and peace extended from " him which is, and which was, and which is to come; "  This phrase is subsequently repeated in verse 8: 8 " I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was,...
