While reading Romans chapter 5 I was intrigued by the following verses: Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith , we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:2 2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. The  stinging fiery whips across that naked back were mine to bear. The thorns pressed in, goring holes into a tender scalp, were meant for me. The shame of nakedness for all to see- that was for me. Perhaps He gazed deep beyond the crowd, no longer hearing the taunts and jeers. Maybe he peered into the depth of time and witnessed you- he witnessed me- believing, at a bed side, at an altar, on a bus stop- and experiencing the rapture of salvation only his sacrifice of life could bring. He trudged on. The heavy cross, across strained shoulders and back, barely held up by legs quivering from the weight above  and demand of the unforgiving ground below; that was meant for me. Hebrews 10:19-22 ( clickable passage ) With the shedding of Jesus's blood upon the cross at calvary, the  temple veil was torn. The tearing of this veil granted us access to the holy of holies.   This access to the throne room, was once exclusive to the high priests under the law of Moses; and that once a year. The high priest had to, first, offer sin offering for himself before he could offer the atonement sacrifice for the congreagation. But thanks be to God for the one sinless and blameless  high priest, who offered himself as a pure sacrifice, for the remission of sins of the entire human race. the book of Hebrews reiterates this sacrifice and the rewards that are a gift of grace, which are received of those who believe in the atoning work of Jesus's blood for them ( Hebrews 10:19). I read this today and even until now, as I prepare to sleep, it has been on my mind. 1 Corinthians 10: 1-4 speaks of sameness and unity. They all escaped the plague of death by the same method- the application of the blood of the lamb (Exodus 12:3,7 & 13).
