Christmas and miracles

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,  believe  that ye  receive  them, and ye shall have them.- Mark 11:24 *image from web* There are many heartwarming stories of unfortunate circumstances that are miraculously turned around during this time of the year.  Many a Hallmark Christmas movie is themed around the whole idea of miracles and Christmas- stopping short of course of the miraculous entrance of Jehovah embodied in full authority and power in the most ironic vessel of a baby.   But what of this- this phenomenon when the miraculous seems to be more easily accomplished in this holiday season? Has God held back his power to manifest it uniquely during this time of the year? Jesus Christ the  same   yesterday , and to day, and for ever.- Hebrews 13:8 For I am the  Lord , I  change   not- Malachi 3:6a According to the word of God, no.  Then what has changed? Th...

Why we MUST Gather

Mark 2:1-2 KJV And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. So Why the gathering? Because the presence of God comes in the house at the gathering of believers. Matthew 18:20 Because we are healed in the gathering of believers. Luke 6:19 Because the Word is preached in the gathering of believers. Mark 2:2 Because we are commanded- for instruction, for edification, for encouragement- to gather even more as the day of the Lord approaches, with other believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 Because, consider a lone body part; we cannot, I repeat, cannot grow, separated from gathering with other believers. Ephesians 4:11-15 We MUST gather. Hebrews 10:24-26 CEV 24  And let us consider each other carefully for the purpose of sparking love and good deeds.   25  Don’t s...

Believe, For Real

Nothing New It's one of those biblical principles that is repeated so often that Christians have lost the reality and the impact of it. How often have we heard in seminars and read in books, and seen in movies and the like, that if you believe you can achieve! Well what does the Bible say? Mark 9:23 says it this way- If thou cans't believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. If you can just believe,  anything is possible to him that believes. So there you have it. No special translation or revelation or interpretation needed. The infallible Word of God says, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE  TO HIM THAT BELIEVES. But what of this word ALL? No exclusions, no exceptions. And what of this word BELIEVES? Entirely convinced of the surety of a thing, even a present believing. See we believe, but to a point. Logic, rationale, and earthly wisdom win out over faith. We get stuck in pre-salvation thinking.  Ephesians 4:22-24 says that you put o...

The greatest commandment?: The Shema

Devarim 6:4 Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) 4  Shema Yisroel Adonoi Eloheinu Adonoi Echad. The Greatest commandment Greater or lesser commandments? I would not think this to be so, but when asked which is the first commandment of all, this was the response: Mark 12:29-31 King James Version (KJV) 29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. No other commandment greater than these says Jesus. "No other commandment greater than these." Deuteronomy 6:4- King James Version (KJV) 4  Hear, O Israel: The  Lord  our God is one  Lord : 5  And tho...
